Srinagar: Police on Thursday claimed to have foiled an exfiltration bid by arresting three people who were on their way to cross Line of Control (LoC) in Uri area of Baramulla district.
In a statement issued here, a police spokesperson said that three youth Majid Rakeeb Konshi of Handwara, Waseem Ahmad Khan and Ghulam Mustafa Ahanger of Kupwara, were motivated by a person through the spoof calls on privacy focused app that he would help them to cross the LoC.
The unknown man, he said, told the trio that he would meet them in person once they reached Uri and would eventually tell them the exact crossing point at the LoC.
“Police however received the information from reliable sources in time and due to the timely action, all the three persons were caught at Uri market while onboard a Maruti vehicle (JK01M-0371),” the police spokesperson said.
He further said that after proper counselling all the three persons are being handed over to their legal heirs.
“They were exhorted upon and advised to remain careful in future and not attend or fall prey to un-necessary calls or radicalization,” he added.
