THIS refers to an opinion piece by Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat titled, “Labour Codes: The Only Hope for J&K’s Consolidated Workers”. We are thankful to Kashmir Observer for highlighting our cause. The consolidated sweepers working in J&K Health Department work in very difficult conditions across Kashmir valley. During COVID-19, we performed duties risking our lives. Our families and children are going through the worst days as we have been waiting for our regularization for almost 3 decades now. We have been demanding payment of wages as per the Minimum Wages Act which is our right. We hope that the Labour Codes Bill is made a law soon so that not only consolidated sweepers and other workers of the health department will get justice but this will also give benefit to thousands of other workers as well those who work in education , power , water works and other Govt and private organizations.
