Uri: A resident of Haryana was killed after a motorcycle he was riding skidded off the road and fell into an unfenced water reservoir (dam) in Uri area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
Officials said that at around 700 am, a motorcycle (HR26DU 1782) skidded off the road and fell into a nearby water reservoir, LJHP Dam Chalan Boniyar. Even as the locals tried hard, the motorcyclist could not be rescued, they said.
The body of the motorcyclist identified as Kashif Khan son of Dilshad Khan, a resident of Panipat Haryana was retrieved from the fast flowing waters at around 4 pm.
A police officer confirmed the retrieval of the body. Meanwhile locals of the area also staged a protest demonstration, demanding fencing around the reservoir. (GNS)
