Srinagar: In what seems to be an alarming trend, Jammu and Kashmir reported on Tuesday 359 new cases of coronavirus, even as one death due to Covid-19 was also reported from the Union Territory during the last 24 hours.
According to the officials, the cases witnessed over 100 percent jump since last week when 157 had tested positive for the infection. Also, this is for the second time that single-day cases breached 300-mark in Jammu and Kashmir. In all, nearly 2900 cases were added to the tally in the last fortnight, officials said.
Also, one death due to the virus was reported in the last 24 hours, taking the J&K’s fatality count to 1990—735 in Jammu and 1255 in Kashmir.
Among the fresh 359 cases detected Tuesday, officials said 266 were from Kashmir Valley and the remaining 93 from Jammu division, taking the total number of people infected by the virus across the Union Territory to 130587.
Giving the district wise details, they said, Srinagar reported 150, Baramulla 46, Budgam 19, Pulwama 12, Kupwara 5, Anantnag 10, Bandipora 3, Ganderbal 5, Kulgam 14, Shopian 2, Jammu 59, Udhampur 7, Rajouri 2, Kathua 19, Samba 1, Poonch 3 and Ramban 2 new cases of coronavirus.
Moreover, they said, 175 more patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals—20 from Jammu Division and 155 from Valley. There are 2293 covid-19 active cases—615 in Jammu and 1678 in Kashmir.
