Srinagar: Kashmir witnessed pleasant weather on Saturday as mercury rose across Kashmir Valley with Gulmarg recording minimum temperature above sub-zero level, officials said.
A meteorological department official said that the mercury settled at 6.4 degree Celsius against previous night’s 3.6 degree Celsius in Srinagar. It is above 0.3 degree Celsius in the summer capital of the J&K for this time of the year, the official said.
Qazigund recorded a low of 6.7 degree Celsius against 4.0 degree Celsius on the previous night, he said.
Mercury settled at 1.3 degree Celsius against minus 0.7 degree Celsius on the earlier night at Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir.
Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 5.4 degree Celsius against previous night’s 2.6 degree Celsius, the official said.
The minimum temperature settled at 4.0 degree Celsius in Kupwara against 1.4 degree Celsius on the previous night, the official said.
Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, recorded a minimum temperature of 0.5 degree Celsius against minus 3.5 degree Celsius on the previous night. It is minus 0.8 degree Celsius above normal for the place during this time of the year, the official added
The meteorological department has forecast mainly dry from till March 31.
“There is no forecast of any major rainfall activity till ending March,” the official added.
