Srinagar: The Crime Branch of Kashmir police arrested three men in New Delhi for duping a Kashmiri man through online fraud.
Santosh Kumar Bhagat, Lakhan Lal Ahirvar and Benadict Silvester alias Manav Tyagi were arrested by Crime Branch sleuths from Kishangarh area of the capital in connection with a case FIR No.37/2019 U/S 420 RPC and 66-D IT Act registered against them, an official handout said. The Court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Patiala House New Delhi granted transit remand for shifting of the arrested people, it said
Divulging details of the case, the official handout said that Crime Branch Kashmir received a written complaint from a person that he received a phone call from an unknown number, informing him about a prize of Rs 7 lakh that he had won in a contest.
The complainant, the handout adds, was asked to deposit an amount of Rs 138,000 in the bank account maintained in the name of Non Stop Deal, operated by one Santosh Kumar Bhagat, in order to claim the prize money.
The three persons were arrested after strenuous efforts by the Investigation team in a lottery scam. Further Investigation going on,” the handout said.
