Srinagar: Primary Health Care Centre in Zadibal area of Srinagar is graced with multiple facilities for the patients given the fact that a huge sum of money has been spent over the decades on maternity facilities by the government at different levels.
PHC Zadibal has qualified Gynecologist, Pharmacists, staff nurses and other paramedical support staff to offer childbirth services.
According to the residents this Health Centre also has a well-equipped open ward, labour room, pediatric and female wards, doctor’s office and an ambulance for referrals and drugs and equipment for immunization, preventive and basic curative care.
The residents of Zadibal accuse the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir of not re-starting the childbirth facility as it has been lying defunct for the last two years now.
“Even after having all the facilities, the concerned department is taking the expected mothers for a ride,” they alleged adding that when there was no qualified Gynecologist in PHC Zadibal the child delivery facility was available and now the Centre has qualified staff from the last two years and still they suffer.
They said Covid is being given a lame excuse and if that pandemic is reality then how are child birth operations being conducted at UPHC Hazratbal?”
The locals requested the Director Health Service Dr Samir Matoo and CMO Srinagar Dr Jahangeer Bakshi to immediately look into the issue and provide people with the much-needed health care facility.
When contacted, Director Dr Samir Matuu said that he will look into the matter.
