SRINAGAR: Real Kashmir FC drew a 0-0 blank against Churchill Brothers FC in the Hero I-League on Monday at the KBK Stadium in Kolkata, West Bengal.
For Real Kashmir, the game was built up as a litmus test with which to prove their title credentials. But after the result, the Srinagar-based side will leave the field the most disappointed of the two teams, as they failed to convert any of their plentiful chances.
For Churchill Brothers, Goalkeeper Shilton Paul had a man-of-the-match performance, as he did well to keep Real Kashmir attacking threat of Dicka, Lukman and Danish at bay. The 0-0 result was a third successive draw for the Red Machines.
Kashmiri-duo of Danish Bhat (striker) and Farhan Ganie (defender) started the game and played full 90 minutes. While club captain, and RKFC’s most stand-out player, Mason Robertson was on the bench.
The highly entertaining match was played on an end to end basis with both teams creating chances and coming close to scoring. For the Snow Leopards, Danish Bhat had an outstanding game as he created plenty of chances throughout the match but his teammates failed to capitalize on them.
RKFC Goalkeeper Mithun Samantha was instrumental in helping his side keep a clean sheet.
The result leaves Real Kashmir in 2nd place with 10 points, with a game in hand. While I-League table toppers, Churchill Brothers, remained in 1st position with 13 points from 7 matches.
Real Kashmir will next play NEROCA FC on Saturday, February 13. The game will kick off at 7 PM (IST).
