Srinagar: In a heart wrenching incident, the body of a minor boy was recovered from a water body in Shalteng area of the city outskirts, hours after he went missing, reports said Saturday.
Three-year-old Salim Sofi’s body was recovered by the joint team of police and Fire & Emergency department from a stagnant water body behind his house in Shalteng area of the city outskirts on Friday night, news agency KNO reported Saturday. The minor boy from Ghalib Abad locality of Shalteng, the report said, went missing from his home around 3: 00 pm on Friday.
The report further said that the desperate family informed the general public through social media that their son has gone missing. The family and the locals also started searching for the boy but could not trace him
Quoting an unnamed official, the report said that a rescue operation was launched shortly after the matter was reported to the Parimpora police station.
“The movement of the boy was traced through the help of CCTV Cameras after which the police zeroed in at the said spot and the body was fished out then late Friday evening,” he added.
