Srinagar: A septuagenarian man from central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Saturday died of coronavirus, even as the Union Territory reported 109 fresh cases of novel coronavirus, including nine travellers during the last 24 hours.
A 75-year-old man from Mazhama village of Budgam district became the latest victim of the deadly disease on Saturday, taking the fatality count to 1921 in the Union Territory, officials said.
So far 1921 people have succumbed to virus in J&K— 1206 in the Valley and 715 in Jammu region.
Srinagar district with 453 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (367), Baramulla (172), Budgam (115), Kupwara (94), Pulwama (88), Anantnag (84), Doda (64), Bandipora (61), Udhampur (57), Kulgam (54), Rajouri (55), Kathua (51), Ganderbal (46), Shopian (39), Samba (39), Poonch (24), Ramban (21), Kishtwar(22), and Reasi (15).
Meanwhile, 109 new cases of Covid-19 were detected across J&K on Saturday, taking the total number of people infected by the virus in UT to 123217, officials said. Among the new cases, officials said, 55 were reported from Jammu division and 54 others from Kashmir Valley.
Giving district-wise details, they said, Srinagar reported 20 cases, Baramulla 8, Budgam 5, Pulwama 7, Kupwara 5, Anantnag 1, Ganderbal 5, Kulgam 1, Shopian 2, Jammu 47, Udhampur 1, Kathua 2, Samba 3, Poonch 1 and Ramban 1.
Moreover, they said, 256 more patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals— 168 from Jammu Division and 88 from Kashmir Valley. (With GNS inputs)
