SRINAGAR: J&K’s leading football club Real Kashmir FC defeated former champions Chennai City FC by 2 goals to nil on Friday to register their first I-League victory of the season at Kolkata’s Kishore Bharati Krirangan Stadium.
The Snow Leopards took an early lead through their Cameroonian striker Asier Pierrick Dipanda Dicka, who scored inside the first 16 minutes of the match. Real Kashmir then sealed the tie with a goal in the 84th minute via attacking midfielder Lalrindika Ralte.
This win puts Real Kashmir level on points (4) with I-League table toppers, Churchill Brothers and Mohammedan SC, with just two matches played thus far by each team.
Heavily touted as title challenger, coach David Robertson’s Real Kashmir FC drew against a resilient TRAU FC in their first match of the season.
Real Kashmir will play their next match against Sudeva Moonlight FC on Tuesday.
