2 Militant Associates Held From Barzulla: Police
Srinagar: Panic gripped Rainawari area of the city on Wednesday after suspected militants lobbed a grenade towards a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) team.
According to the officials, unknown militants hurled a grenade towards CRPF party from 21 battalion outside Chatti Padhsahi Gurudwara here in Rainawari on Wednesday afternoon that exploded with a bang.
“However, no loss of life or injury was reported during the incident,” officials said, adding that a manhunt has been launched to nab the attackers.
Meanwhile, Police claimed to have arrested two alleged Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT) militant associates from this capital city.
Muzaffar Jan of Old Barzulla and Abass Shafi Najar of Natipora were arrested by police from Bulbul Bagh Barzulla on the basis of reliable information, a police spokesperson said Wednesday. He further claimed that arms and ammunition, including two Chinese pistols, two magazines and13 pistol cartridges were recovered from the possession of the duo.
“In this regard, FIR No. 06/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sadder. Investigation in the case is underway,” the police spokesperson added. (With KNO inputs)
