Srinagar: A National Conference (NC) leader on Monday was arrested for allegedly thrashing a policeman at the party’s district office in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Ghulam Mohiuddin Mir, NC’s district president for Pulwama was arrested by cops on Monday for allegedly thrashing a police Head Constable Abdul Gani, posted at party’s district office in the south Kashmir district, reports said. The Head Constable is deputed as guard commander at NC’s Pulwama office, and he had reportedly not allowed media personnel to enter the NC office, infuriating Mir.
Quoting eyewitnesses, a local news agency KNT reported that the scuffle broke out when Mir manhandled the cop when the latter barred media persons from entering NC district office located at Mujahid Manzil Pulwama.
The report further says that the cop brought the incident into the issue of his seniors following which action was taken against the NC leader.
A police official confirmed that NC district president Mir has been arrested and a formal case vide FIR number 3/2020 under section 323, 353 has been registered against him.
