Srinagar: Police on Tuesday claimed to have solved murder case of a woman by arresting her husband from Bandipora district of north Kashmir within a week after he committed ‘crime’.
Acting on a written complaint of Abdul Rehman Matahanji of Laharwalpora Bandipora that her daughter has been murdered by her husband Shabir Ahmad Pahloo of S.K Payeen; police filed a case FIR No.177/2020 under relevant sections of law at the police station Sumbal on December 21 and started investigating the allegations, a police spokesperson said Tuesday.
Subsequently, he said, a special team headed by DO Police Post Ajas recovered the body of the woman and handed it to her legal heirs for last rites after completion of all medico legal formalities.
During the course of investigation, the police spokesperson said, officers came to know that Pahloo was involved in the commission of the crime. He said after strenuous efforts and swift action of police, the accused person was arrested.
“During questioning, the accused admitted that during the intervening night of 20/21 December the duo were engaged in a brawl over Mehar and golden ornaments and he strangulated his wife to death,” he said.
He further said that the accused has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
“Further investigation in the case is going on,” he added.
