Bandipora/Kuwpara: Counting of votes for Hajin-A and Drugmulla constituencies of DDC in Bandipora and Kupwara Districts was stopped as one of the contestants happened to be a resident of Pakistan-controlled Kashmir (PcK), reports said Tuesday.
The contestant from Hajin-A, Shazia Aslam is said to be brought up in Muzzafarabad area of PcK, and married to a Kashmiri militant, Mohammad Phapoo who then surrendered and even participated in assembly elections later, reported local news agency GNS.
At the time of acceptance of her nominations, Shazia told reporters that the wife of the former militants currently in Jammu and Kashmir, who crossed the Line of Control through a rehabilitation policy, should live their life with peace and dignity.
Meanwhile, authorities stopped counting for the Drugmulla constituency as one of the contestants—Somaya Sadaf— also belongs to Pak and has been married to a local resident.
