Srinagar: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a youth, who was posing as a police officer and intimidating people here in this capital city.
According to a police spokesperson, police station Sherghari received a complaint on September 27 by Sohail Ahmed Pinchoo of Noorbagh alleging that he was receiving threatening calls on his phone from a person who identified himself as DySP Cargo.
Accordingly, he said a case FIR No. 56/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation, the police spokesperson said that the accused was identified, arrested and shifted to the police station. The police spokesperson identified the imposter as Nazir Ahmad Sheikh of Bota Kadal here.
“The accused person has deliberately registered his name as DySP CM Residence in Truecaller app with the intention to cheat and threaten the public,” the police spokesperson said.
