Srinagar: The Enforcement Wing of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) on Monday demolished illegal structures in in green belt areas of the city.
According to an official spokesperson, the LAWDA officials demolished two illegal constructions of single storey houses, concrete Block, shuttering for Plinth and roofing at Lashkari Mohalla north foreshore road (NFR) in green belt,
Shalimar and Harwan areas. The illegal constructions were constructed taking undue advantage of the Covid-19 lockdown.
“During demolition operation there was great resistance at Lashkari Mohalla NFR from the public followed by manhandling of the members of demolition squad and police personnel,” the official spokesperson said.
“The public also resorted to heavy stone pelting resulting in the minor injuries to some of the members of demolition squad besides some of the vehicles of the Enforcement Wing and Mechanical Division also got damaged,” he added.
He said that the front and rare glasses of the two trippers which were running in nearby area on the main road NFR got completely damaged and the drivers, cleaners of these vehicles also received minor injuries.
