Srinagar: Seven days after the institute conducted first-ever Convalescent Plasma Therapy in COVID patients, the authorities at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) on Thursday said that only seven to eight recovered COVID patients have so far donated their blood plasma.
Dr. Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent of SKIMS said that only seven to eight recovered COVID-19 patients have so far donated their blood plasma.
SKIMS started Convalescent Plasma Therapy (CPT) for critically sick patients as one of the modalities of supportive treatment of this deadly infection that has been approved by Government of India as well as ICMR.
“The Institutional Ethics Committee of SKIMS also approved the institution of this Treatment. The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has been apprised of the recent developments in Convalescent Plasma Therapy at SKIMS wherein three critically sick patients received Plasma Therapy on compassionate grounds,” the officials said.
The institute also appealed to the recovered COVID-19 patients to come up and donate their blood plasma.
However, below a dozen recovered patients have so far turned up to donate their blood plasm
