Srinagar: At least sixty CRPF personnel, eleven cops and two soldiers on Tuesday tested positive for coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir, raising the count of infected persons in the Union Territory to 7,497
“260 new Covid-19 cases were detected in J&K. While 228 of them are from Kashmir, 32 are from Jammu,” the officials said.
Among fresh cases, 64 cases were reported from Kulgam followed by 46 from Srinagar, 44 from Baramulla, 19 each from Budagm & Baramulla, 17 from Anantnag, 14 from Pulwama, 12 from Jammu, seven from Udhampur, five each from Ramban & Kathua, three from Bandipora, two from Rajouri and one each Kupwara, Ganderbal & Samba, they said.
According to officials, 137 more patients recovered and were discharged from different hospitals.
The cases detected on Tuesday included 22 people who had returned to J&K recently.
Besides it, 60 CRPF personnel from 29, 44 and 18 battalions from Patha Chowk, HMT Srinagar and Kulgam were confirmed Covid-19 positive at the SKIMS here. 11 cops from Police Station Rajpora Pulwama also tested positive for virus today.
The number of confirmed cases has now reached 7,497 out of which 5886 are in Kashmir, while 1,611 are in Jammu, the officials said.
There are 2,674 active cases of the coronavirus disease in J&K — 2,233 in Kashmir and 441 in Jammu — and 4,722 (3,564 from Kashmir and 1,158 from Jammu) patients have recovered, according to officials.
The J&K has witnessed 101 (89 from Kashmir, 12 from Jammu) Covid-19 deaths so far.
