Srinagar- A gunfight broke out between militants and state forces in Verinag forests in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday, police said.
State forces launched a cordon and search operation in Verinag forests after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area, a police official said.
He said a gunfight broke out after the militants opened fire at a search party of the forces.
The exchange of fire is going on and further details are awaited.
