Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday reported 154 new cases of Covid-19, including 15 paramilitary personnel and five cops, raising the number of people infected by the deadly disease to 5834 in the Union Territory.
“154 new Covid-19 cases were detected in J&K. While 114 of them are from Kashmir, 40 are from Jammu,” the officials said.
Among fresh cases, 28 cases were reported from Srinagar, 21 from Baramulla, 20 from Budgam, 12 from Shopian, 11 each from Pulwama & Jammu, nine from Kulgam, seven each from Kupwara & Kathua, six each from Ramban & Udhampur, four from Doda, three each from Anantnag & Samba, two from Bandipora and one each from Ganderbal, Reasi, Kishtwar & Rajouri, they said.
They said that 142 more patients recovered and were discharged from different hospitals.
Among the new cases include, 14 CRPF personnel from 144 Battalion, one BSF man from Humhama, five policemen from District Police Lines (DPL) Pulwama, one cop from Shopian, six pregnant women, two doctors, six months old baby, two minors, a government employee and a health worker, news agency GNS reported.
The number of confirmed cases has now reached 5, 834 out of which 4,488 are in Kashmir, while 1,346 are in Jammu, the officials said.
There are 2,417 active cases of the coronavirus disease in J&K — 1,820 in Kashmir and 597 in Jammu — and 3,336 (2,597 from Kashmir and 739 from Jammu) patients have recovered, according to officials.
The J&K has witnessed 81 Covid-19 (71 from Kashmir, 10 from Jammu) deaths so far.
