Srinagar: At least six people are feared dead after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into the river Chenab in Kishtwar district, reports said Frday.
A tipper with five labourers and the driver on board skidded off the road Slipor Morh in Paddar area of district Kishtwar on Wednesday evening and plunged into the river Chenab, reports said. The persons on board in the vehicle were identified as Driver Sandeep Kumar, Rajesh Kumar and Rakesh Kumar of Kadhail, Ravinder Kumar and Jabar Singh of Jar and Manjeet Kumar of Sazar.
Soon after the mishap, the local administration, Police and Army launched a rescue operation.
However, no person has been traced from the spot by the rescue teams so far, as the deep gorge and fast flow of river is hampering the rescue operations, officials said. (KNO)
