Srinagar: A militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight that broke out in Munand-Bandpava area of Shopian district of south Kashmir on Thursday, police said.
State forces launched a cordon-and-search operation at Munand-Bandpava area after receiving specific information about the presence of militants, a police official said.
He said the search operation turned into a gunfight after militants fired on a search party of the forces, who retaliated.
One militant has been killed, the official said, adding the operation was ongoing.
