SRINAGAR- 78 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, taking the number of cases in J&K to 5,298, officials said.
“78 new COVID-19 cases were detected in J&K. While 62 are from Kashmir, 16 of them are from Jammu, ” the officials said.
The cases detected on Tuesday included 23 persons who had returned to Jammu and Kashmir recently.
Budgam district, in central Kashmir, had the highest number of cases at 14, followed by Srinagar and Anantnag districts at 10 cases each, the officials said.
They said five districts Jammu, Ramban, Doda, Reasi and Kishtwar had no fresh cases.
The officials said that 177 more patients recovered and were discharged from different hospitals.
The number of confirmed cases has now reached 5,298, out of which 4,091 are in Kashmir, while 1,207 are in Jammu, the officials said.
There are 2,454 active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in J&K — 1,760 in Kashmir and 694 in Jammu — and 2,781 (2,275 from Kashmir and 506 from Jammu) patients have recovered, according to officials.
The J&K has witnessed 63 COVID-19 (56 from Kashmir, 7 from Jammu) deaths so far.
