Srinagar- Coronavirus cases in Jammu and Kashmir crossed five-thousand mark on Sunday after 163 more people tested positive for virus, officials said.
“163 new COVID-19 cases were detected in J&K. While 135 of them are from Kashmir, 28 are from Jammu,” the officials said.
Among fresh cases,45 were reported from Shopian, 33 from Pulwama, 16 from Kulgam, 11 from Budgam, 10 from Srinagar, nine from Kupwara, eight from Samba, six each from Doda & Jammu, five from Anantnag, four from Kathua, three each from Baramulla, Bandipora & Udhampur and one from Rajouri, they said.
They said that 120 more patients recovered and were discharged from different hospitals.
The number of confirmed cases has now reached 5,041 out of which 3,878 are in Kashmir, while 1,163 are in Jammu, the officials said.
There are 2,593 active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in J&K — 1,848 in Kashmir and 745 in Jammu — and 2,389 (1,978 from Kashmir and 411 from Jammu) patients have recovered, according to officials.
The J&K has witnessed 59 COVID-19 deaths so far (52 from Kashmir, 7 from Jammu), including the two deaths that took place on Sunday.
