Srinagar- The number of novel coronavirus cases in Jammu and Kashmir rose to 1,621 on Sunday after 52 more people tested positive for the infection, officials said.
Fifty-two new COVID-19 cases were detected in J&K. While 22 of them are from Jammu, 30 are from Kashmir, the officials said.
Among fresh cases, 26 cases were reported from Kulgam, seven from Samba, six from Jammu, four from Kathua, three from Rajouri and two from Udhampur while one each was reported from Anantnag, Baramulla, Shopian and Kupwara, they said.
The number of confirmed cases has now reached 1,621, out of which 1,360 are in Kashmir, while 261 are in Jammu, the officials said.
There are 791 active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in J&K — 607 in Kashmir and 184 in Jammu — and 809 patients have recovered, according to officials.
The J&K has witnessed 21 COVID-19 deaths so far.
With these fresh cases, Anantnag now has 273 COVID-19 patients, highest in all districts, followed by Kulgam (224), Srinagar (179), Kupwara (164), Bandipora (139), Baramulla (137), Shopian (128), Jammu (78), Budgam (64), Kathua (45), Ramban (44), Udhampur (35), Ganderbal (27), Samba (27), Pulwama (25), Rajouri (13), Kishtwar (8), Poonch (6), Reasi (4) and Doda (1).
