Ganderbal- In an advancement to boost up the municipal functionaries set up, Mir Jeelani was administered oath as the new Vice President of Municipal Committee, Ganderbal here at Town Hall on Saturday afternoon.
Abiding by the government advisories, the oath taking ceremony was kept very brief and crowdless with full emphasis on social distancing. President MCG, Advocate Altaf Lone, Executive Officer, GM Lone and the councillors of the municipality wards were the only people to attend the oath ceremony.
It was due to the resignation of the former vice president, the vacancy was filled with Mir Jeelani getting the majority of the votes (11 out of 17) in his favour.
Mir, after the oath administration, took over as vice president MCG and joined his office. He said that his keen interest to serve the people of his domain has taken a new turn with this new responsibility.
“I’m thankful to the President, EO and all my colleagues who have shown their faith and belief in me and this will certainly encourage me to come up with more dedication and I’m surely with the healthy cooperation of the people of Ganderbal, we’ll be able to serve our town more efficiently. Hopefully will meet the expectations and achieve the highest level of quality service for which Municipal Committee has been established for”, Mir said.
