Srinagar: Forty more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, taking the number of cases in J&K to 1489, officials said.
Of the fresh cases, 33 are from Kashmir and seven are from the Jammu region, the officials said.
In Kashmir, 18 cases were reported from Shopian, three each from Baramulla & Kupwara, two each from Srinagar, Pulwama & Anantnag, one each from Bandipora, Budgam & Kulgam districts. In Jammu division, four cases were reported from Samba, two from Rajouri and one from Poonch districts they said.
They said that 36 patients recovered and were discharged from different hospitals.
The new cases in a day brought the tally to 1,489 in Jammu and Kashmir, they said.
“Of these, 1271 are in Kashmir, while 218 are in the Jammu region,” the officials added.
A total of 720 people (650 in Kashmir, 70 in Jammu) have recovered from the infection, leaving 749 active cases in the Union Territory – 603 in Kashmir and 146 in the Jammu region.
The J&K has witnessed 20 (18 from Kashmir, 2 from Jammu) coronavirus-related deaths.
