Srinagar: Clashes broke out between protesters and government forces on Thursday during a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Karimabad area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
According to the reports, police and CRPF laid a siege around Karimabad village this afternoon after a militant attack in the neighbourhood village of Prichoo left a cop dead and another injured. When the joint team started searches, reports said, the locals, mostly boys hit the streets and staged a protest.
The protesters clashed with the government forces as the latter used teargas canisters and fired pellets to disperse them.
In the clashes, a few people were injured. A minor identified as Shahid Fayaz was injured after being hit by pellets in his eye.
He was shifted to district hospital Pulwama for treatment.
