Junaid Sehrai, son of separatist conglomerate Tehreek-e-Hurriyat’s chairman Ashraf Sehrai, was among the two militants killed in an encounter with government forces in downtown Srinagar on Tuesday, police said.
The second militant has been identified as Tariq Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Pulwama.
The encounter began around 2 AM after a joint team of the CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation in Kani Mazar locality of Nawakadal area in Srinagar city following inputs about the presence of militants.

Shortly after the area was brought under siege, mobile internet and mobile telephony services, except on BSNL postpaid, were snapped in Srinagar.
