Srinagar: Lakes and Waterways Development Authority has roped in NGO’s to clean Dal Lake here in Kashmir capital Srinagar.
At a time when thousands of tons of garbage, sewage and drainage find its way into the Dal, Non Government Organization’s (NGO’s) have come to the rescue of the lake. Sources said that LAWDA has decided to roped in NGO’s that are run by Dal dwellers to clean the Dal Lake.
There are various NGO’s that are being operated by those living in and around Dal Lake. Sources said that LAWDA us issued tenders and the NGO with highest bid will be allotted the assignment of cleaning the Dal. “It is a good thing and a nice measure on part of LAWDA. There are various NGO’s capable enough to clean and preserve the pristine glory of the Lake. We appreciate the LAWDA official for this decision.
The Dal dwellers will hopefully respond well to the garbage management process and they will cooperate,” said a local.
Another local said the LAWDA should avail the services of all NGO’s to remove the lily from water, clean channels and other stuff. (KNT)
