SRINAGAR: With the fear of infection and lack of hygiene likely to move people’s preference back to personal mobility, which in turn is likely to reverse the trend of declining car sales, manufacturers are now launching online platforms to sell cars.
After the likes of Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, MG Motors, Honda, Ford and more, Mahindra and Mahindra has also joined the bandwagon and has announced the new platform to sell cars online. Mahindra has announced that the interested buyers can now own a car in the simple four-step process.
The first step in the buying process is to explore and personalise the Mahindra vehicles. The whole range of Mahindra SUVs are online and can be customised as per the customer needs. Mahindra allows instant exchange quotes that are generated real-time for the buyer’s current car that he or she wants to exchange.
The Mahindra platform also provides finance schemes online and the customers can choose from multiple finance options. Also, there are multiple insurance options that the buyer can check carefully before choosing. The buyer also needs to choose a dealership of their preference around their home and in the last step, you can make the payment or give the downpayment and get the delivery of the vehicle straight to your home.
Speaking about the launch of Own-Online, Veejay Nakra, CEO Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “Today we are delighted to launch ‘Own-Online’ platform, India’s most complete, end-to-end, online car ownership solution. Its easy & convenient 4-step journey allows the customer to own a Mahindra vehicle in less time than it takes to get a pizza delivered! With our pre and post-purchase online solutions already in place, reimagining the car purchase experience was a logical next step for us. In recent times, online has been a preferred purchase channel across categories and going forward, the online purchase of vehicles is set to gain more traction. We are ready to lead this change in automotive retail by providing many industry-first experiences to our customers.”
Mahindra and Mahindra is planning to launch a slew of all-new vehicles in the Indian market later this year. The manufacturer is currently working on the all-new Thar that is expected to be launched in the coming few months. They are also working on the all-new Scorpio for the Indian market.
Meanwhile according to EY India Partner and Automotive Sector Leader Vinay Raghunath, “In a post COVID-19 world, we do expect continued adherence to social distancing norms. The path to purchase will continue to be influenced by digital enablers with some customer segments preferring a virtual path from awareness to closure.”
He further said, “A contactless purchase journey could be a win-win situation for customers, OEMs and dealers. Digital heavy processes offering flexibility in consumer connect supported by lean dealer operations is bound to become the new normal in the near future. Every player in the auto industry must invest ahead of the curve to keep pace with changing consumer dynamics.”
