Srinagar: A day after ban on the movement of people and vehicles to Gurez valley was lifted; the district administration Bandipora on Saturday took a U-turn and put the latest order in abeyance.
In a fresh order issued today, the Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza banned movement of people or vehicles into Gurez valley as a precautionary measure, an official spokesperson said.
“Fresh decision on the movement will be taken once the influx of stranded people of the district including Gurez, being brought in from outside the UT, is settled,” the order as per spokesperson reads.
He further said that Friday’s order has been put in abeyance in view of the extension of lockdown for further two weeks and to deal with the influx of labors, students and other persons stranded outside J&K.
“The restriction orders are in place as a precautionary measure to avoid spread of COVID-19 in Gurez Valley,” the spokesperson added.
