Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference has expressed deep grief over the demise of its senior members, Abdul Majeed Wani of Hawal and Advocate Peer Hafizullah Makhdoomi of Nawakadal. Makhdoomi was a close associate of Khwaja Abdul Gani Lone.
Hurriyat (M) in a statement paid tributes to Abdul Majeed Wani for his “lifelong contribution in a peaceful struggle being carried out by the amalgam”.
“Late Abdul Majeed Wani dedicated his whole life for upholding the honour and dignity of the people of Kashmir as a true representative of their emotions and sentiments. He was a man of conviction who even served jail terms but stood firm on his stand for people,” the statement said.
Paying rich tributes to late Makhdoomi, Hurriyat (M) recalled his contribution towards the formation of Hurriyat Conference in 1993.
Ittehadul Muslimeen has also expressed grief over the demise of two Hurriyat members.
Maulana Masroor Ansari hailed the contribution of both Wani and Makhdoomi to the Kashmir’s struggle for justice. He recollected the noteworthy contribution of late Makhdoomi in the formation of Muslim United Front (MUF) in late eighties.
Jammu and Kashmir People’s Independent Movement (JKPIM) Chairman Bilal Gani Lone also expressed condolences over the demise of Makhdoomi.
Meanwhile, J&K High Court Bar Association also condoled the demise of advocate Makhdoomi.
In a statement, the Association expressed grief on the demise of Makhdoomi and expressed sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved family.
