Srinagar- A local militant of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit was arrested by state forces on Wednesday night in Shumlaran area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said.
A police officer said that a joint team of army’s army’s 52 RR, 161 TA, 176 CRPF and police apprehended the militant from Shumlaran area of Chandusa, reported news agency GNS.
The officer identified the militant as Bashir Ahmad Beigh son of Ghulam Mohiudin of Shirpora, Kandi, Kreeri. “On his instance, raids were carried out in Kreeri late night which resulted in the recovery of one AK rifle with two magazines and 40 rounds,” the officer said.
Bashir, according to the police officer had joined militant ranks on April 2 this month.
The officer said that the two boys who were brought back and returned to their respective families were also lure to join the militancy by Bashir.
“In this connection, a case has been registered and further investigations taken up,” the officer added.
