Jammu– Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu on Saturday asked J&K Bank Chairman to implement RBI guidelines over three-month long moratorium on the payment of installments of term loans, and enhance the working capital limit of the bank by 10%.
This was stated by the LG during a meet with Chairman and MD J&K Bank RK Chibber here today, an official spokesperson said. The J&K bank Chairman presented a cheque of Rs 5 crore to the LG as a contribution to J&K Relief Fund towards the efforts being undertaken to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
“The LG asked the CMD of the Bank to release the overdraft to the Jan Dhan account holders as per the Financial Package announced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister and implement the RBI guidelines regarding three-month long moratorium on the payment of installments of term loans. He further asked him to enhance the working capital limit of the bank by 10%,” the official spokesperson said.
He said that the LG also asked Chibber to formulate an effective strategy to deal with the emerging situation and take proactive measures to sensitize the masses about various government schemes and relief packages through awareness programmes, especially in view of the COVID-19 threat.
