JAMMU – The Jammu & Kashmir administration on Friday promoted 73 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) as Superintendents Police (SPs) on officiating basis as the promotion of these officers were pending for long.
A government order accorded to the promotion of the Deputy Superintendents of Police and the officiating arrangements were made purely in the interest of administration.
The order said the promotions shall not confer any preferential right upon these officers for promotion which shall be made strictly in accordance with the Jammu and Kashmir Police (Gazetted) Service Recruitment Rules, 2002 and shall further be subject to the outcome of writ petition(s) of law.
Consequent upon the promotions, the government also issued a list of transfers and postings of 81 police officers with immediate effect.
Among the police officers transferred included one of 2002 batch, two each of 2001 and 2009 batch, four of 1999 batch, five of 2004 batch, seven of 2003 batch 13 of 2007 batch and 40 of 2008 batch of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
