SRINAGAR – After feeling pressure from the Raj Bhavan, Vice Chancellor Kashmir University has removed former VC Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi from the two top posts and he has been directed to report to his parent department of Biotechnology as a simple Professor.
Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi shortly after leaving the chair of Vice Chancellor was posted as Dean, School of Unani and Ayurvedic Medicines and head of department of Bio-chemistry.
Sources said that despite a case against him about the ‘illegal appointments’, Andrabi was handed over two key posts in Kashmir University. Sources added that the incumbent Vice Chancellor succumbed to the pressure exerted by Raj Bhavan and immediately removed Andrabi from the two key posts.
“It is notified for the information of all concerned that the Vice Chancellor in exercise of powers vested in him under section 29(1) of the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969, has been pleased to nominate Prof Akbar Masood, Department of Biochemistry, as Dean, School of Unani and Ayurvedic Medicines in place of Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi, Department of Biotechnology with immediate effect till further order,” an official order duly signed by Assistant Registrar Academic reads.
Through yet another official order duly signed by Assistant Registrar- Administration, Andrabi has been removed from the headship of department of Bio-Chemistry and in his place Dr Shajral Amin has been asked to take charge. (KNT)
