SRINAGAR – The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday said that it is going to act tough against the people involved in rumour mongering.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan said that he has received complaints of rumour mongering from Srinagar and Anantnag districts aimed to create fear among the people and to disrupt peaceful atmosphere in the valley.
“Strict action will be taken against those found involved in such activities,” he said.
Khan said that he has passed directions to all Deputy Commissioners (DCs), and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to identify such elements and arrest them under relevant laws immediately.
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir appealed people not to pay attention to rumours and carry on their daily routine without fear.
Pertinently, rumours about Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani’s deteriorating health and imposition of curfew were doing rounds from several days in the Valley creating panic among the people.
