BANDIPORA – An official of the Social Weal fear department was suspended and attached to border town, Gurez by the District admin Bandipora here in North Kashmir for draining state ex-chequer while using forged signatures of a top official.
Sources Privy to Kashmir Observer said, that a senior Assistant namely Noor Muhammad Khan of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) Department, was using cheque book of District Officer ICDS and used to draw money from a scheme meant for the welfare of the children’s. As the fraud surfaced, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Shahbaz Mirza suspended the official in question and asked Additional Deputy Commissioner, (ADC) to probe the matter. ADC who is also programme officer of the ICDS confirmed KO that they have suspended the official last week and are going to submit the report within a week to DC Bandipora.
“Actually an official of the concerned department came to know that the employee was using his forge signatures to draw money from the Project Bandipora,” ADC Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmed Mir told Kashmir Observer. adding that they have started the inquiry.
As the scam surfaced apprehension grows among the hundreds of employees working in Social welfare department, who are without the salaries from last several months that the official might have withdrawn their salaries too.
