TRAL – Police have registered two formal cases while District Administration has appointed an inquiry officer to probe into a series of incidents in which a number of mosques and a shrine were ‘desecrated’ in South Kashmir’s Tral town of Pulwama district.
Official sources told Kashmir News Trust that unknown miscreants targeted three mosques and a shrine in the middle of the night in Tral town. The miscreants smashed the window panes of Masjid Sharif Bait-ul-Muzam at Ratherpora Dadsara, Masjid Sharif Naikpora Amerabad Tral and Masjid Sharif Sangrama.
Official sources added that miscreants targeted the Shrine of Hazrat Syed Akbaruddin (RA) at Dadsara and even set matting of Masjid Sharif Naikpora at Amerabad Tral on fire. The incidents sparked protests while police stations Awantipora and Tral took cognizance of these incidents and registered formal FIR’s vide numbers 86/2019 and 140/2019 in this regard.
Meanwhile, District Administration Pulwama appointed ADC Tral, Shabir Raina as Inquiry Officer who visited spots of incidents and assured people of fair and time bound inquiry. “I have been directed to complete the inquiry within stipulated time and hopefully I will do it,” Raina told KNT.
Pertinently, unknown persons also had torched a truck (JK01X-4864) in Dadsara Tral.
