SRINAGAR – Governor Satya Pal Malik has asserted that Union Home Ministry (UHM) will decide about the release of politicians in Jammu and Kashmir.
Expressing concern over the killing of three outsiders by militants in south Kashmir since Monday, Mr Malik said those responsible will not be spared and they will have to pay for these innocent killings.
Ruling out early resumption of pre-paid and internet service in the valley, Mr Malik said those coming from Pakistan controlled Kashmir (PcK) and Pakistan will misuse both the facilities to spread hatred and incite people to indulge in trouble.
Three former chief ministers — Dr Farooq Abdullah, his son Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti and dozens of other senior leaders and former Legislators of different mainstream political parties were detained or put under house arrest on August 5, when centre scrapped Article 370 and 35 A , besides divided the state into two Union Territories.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a TV interview recently said Dr Abdullah, Omar and Mehbooba have been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA).
Malik said UHM only will take decision about the release of detained politicians, including former Chief Ministers.
