SRINAGAR – A villager beaten up by a mob in highway town of Qazi Gund in South Kashmir on Saturday, succumbed to his injuries later in SKIMS Srinagar.
A police official said that one person namely Mohammad Akram Sheikh s/o Ghulam Hassan Sheikh and r/o Acchabal Anantnag was thrashed by a mob in Qazi Gund market. He was accused of fraudulently extracting heavy amounts of money from them for jobs in various government departments.
The said person was fell unconscious and was rushed to nearby hospital, from where he was referred to SKIMS Srinagar.
Doctors in SKIMS tried their best to save him, but he succumbed to his injuries.
Police registered a case in this regard and said an investigation has been started.
Meanwhile one report said that the deceased person was a political worker. However his affiliation could not be known. (CNS)
