SRINAGAR – The valley based senior professors and teachers urged the state administration to take necessary steps so that students can complete their syllabus. They stressed that any sort of concession in the syllabus of students will have serious repercussions on the career of students of higher secondary school education.
According to Kashmir News Observer, for the Valley based educational institutes and the authorities are now deliberating to provide some concessions in the syllabus. The move comes at a time when all the educational institutes, including private schools, higher secondary’s, colleges , and Universities continue to remain closed in the Kashmir region since Aug 05 in the aftermath of the abrogation of the Article 370 and the bifurcation of the J&K state into two Union Territories (UT’s).
Professor Sudhir Singh, a former professor at KU said: “As a teacher and a mentor I consider the concession in syllabus, a negative move as education is the fundamental right of every citizen of the country irrespective of age, sex, religion and snatching or restricting that right from them is not justified at all.”
Professor Singh said that that if the prevailing uncertainty and uneasy calm continues, it will cast a shadow on the future prospectus of the students.
Another professor at IUST says, “A students syllabus is always tailored in accordance with age, ability, and time and when a portion of that syllabus is skipped it’s like skipping a part of his learning experience.”
She said that instead of considering the concessions inn syllabus the concerned authorities should lookout for ways to get our youth back to their schools/institutes and provide them some time extension so that they will cover up the entire syllabus.
