SRINAGAR A father-son duo is among three people arrested for peddling drugs in Kashmir, police said Friday.
Police in Anantnag arrested a drug peddler at a checkpoint and seized contraband substance from his possession.
Identified as Lateef Ahmad of Qazigund Kulgam, the man was arrested for drug supply offences and shifted to Police Station Bijbehara where he remains in custody.
Officers at the checkpoint established at NHW Jablipora Bijbehara intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK19/2684 and seized Spasmoproxyvon capsules from his possession. Vehicle has also been seized in the matter.
Case FIR No. 107/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up.
A father-son duo was arrested during checking in Sopore town of north Kashmirs Baramulla district and 500 grams of charas seized from their possesion.
A police spokesman identified them as Ghulam Mohiudin Dar alias Mahad Chuntii son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar resident of Teliyaan Mohalla Arampora, Sopore and Ghulam Hassan Dar son of Ghulam Mahiddin Dar.
Police has registered a case FIR No. 209/2019 under relevant sections of law and initiated investigation in the matter.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, the spokesman said.
