SRINAGAR Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Wednesday paid rich tributes to Constable Shankar Lal Barala of 23 Bn CRPF, who was killed in a shootout at Karan Nagar, locality of Srinagar, last year.
According to a statement, Shankar had joined the elite force on 21/10/2004 and Served in various parts of Country. He joined 23 Bn CRPF at Karan Nagar, Srinagar on 07/02/2015.
He was deployed at Pampori Bhawan of Karan Nagar, last year, when few militants started indiscriminate firing on Barala from the window of Pampori Bhawan, the statement reads.
He fought with bravery but at last died at the spot. He was a very brave soldier of this force and displayed conspicuous Courage and sacrificed his supreme life in the interest of the nation, the statement further reads.
While paying tributes to Shankar, all Personnel of CRPF gathered at one place and wreath lying Ceremony was observed.
According to the statement, Unit Commandant Udai Pratap Singh contacted to the family of Barala and assured them for all type of possible assistance in coming days.
