SRINAGAR The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has decided to widen its ambit to check rampant corruption and to crack whip on top officials in various government- owned corporations.
Quoting sources, a local news agency reported that feeling upbeat over the recent directions and praises from the Union Home Minister, the ACB has decided to put on its radar, the prime institutions of Jammu and Kashmir to check the rampant corruption, nepotism, favouritism and illegal appointments.
Yes, we are going to cast our net in the coming days on various government- owned corporations where there are reports of corruption and mass bungling of government funds besides strong reports of fake appointments and favouritism, the news agency quoted sources as saying.
The ACB is also reportedly planning to crack down on various boards in the state.
Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik had last month said that big fish involved in corruption wont be spared and claimed that he knew some families which had made millions while being in-charge of forests.
I know some families, who were in charge of forests. They have become millionaires. See the bungalows in Vasant Vihar or Maharani Bagh in Delhi of those who worked in the forest department, Malik said after starting plantation drive at Zabarwan hills here.
Malik had refuted allegations that there was a political vendetta behind the ACBs actions, saying The way Anti Corruption Bureau is working, it is natural that some big fish will also be caught.
