SRINAGAR Police Thursday general public to remain vigilant about three woman thieves who it said were on the prowl in the city.
Srinagar police received few complaints from some time regarding the activities of the thieves in the city, a police spokesman said, identifying them as Tahira of Umarabad, Gul Colony; Mumtaza of Lawaypora and Naseema of Parimpora.
They recently stole a golden bangle from an elderly woman near Badyari Chowk,Dalgate, in the second kind of its incident within a week.
Accordingly FIR No. 57/19 U/s 382 RPC and 60/19 U/s 379 RPC were registered in Police Station Ram Minshi Bagh and investigation taken up. Police Investigating team obtained the CCTV footage from the area and from the CCTV footages, it is clear that ladies are involved in the thefts, the spokesman said.
Reportedly these ladies are seasoned thieves and besides pick-pocketing, they target old ladies and steal away golden ornaments from them especially at crowded places and private buses. These ladies are residents of Parimpora area but frequently change their residence and are currently on the run, the spokesman said.
General public especially ladies are advised to be vigilant, the spokesman said, adding a hunt on to nab the thieves.
