SRINAGAR Munshi Ghulam Hassan, a noted civil society activist and former Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank passed away on Wednesday after brief illness at his residence in Nowpora, Srinagar.
Hassan, who also served as the Sales Tax Commissioner, passed away at around 5 pm on Wednesday, family sources said. He was laid to rest at cemetery at Qulipora.
Hassan, a witness to many political and social upheavals in the Valley, was a prolific writer. He has compiled ‘Nedai-Haq’, a memoir of his late father Munshi Ishaq, a prominent Muslim Conference leader. Besides his write ups on Kashmir’s turbulent political history have appeared in many newspapers.
