SRINAGAR One person was killed on the spot and two others were injured when some explosive material went off at Chidder Ban area of Khudwani in south Kashmirs Kulgam district.
Official sources said that the scrap shop dealer while trying to set on fire some trash in which the explosive material was lying went off at Chidder Ban village of Khudwani at around 10:45 am.
In the blast, one person died on the spot while as two others suffered serious injuries, they said.
The deceased has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Khaliq Bhat.
Both the injured namely Mohammad Abbas Bhat and Yawar Ahmad sustained critical injuries and were shifted to PHC Qaimoh where from Abbas who is critically wounded was referred to SKIMS Soura for specialised treatment, they said.
SSP Kulgam Gurinder Pal Singh also confirmed the incident.
The officer said that police has taken cognisance of the incident and further investigations have been up to ascertain the nature of blast.
Meanwhile, the Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar today expressed grief over the death of Nazir Ahmad Bhat in a mysterious blast at Chidder area.
The Advisor in his condolence message has conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul and early recovery of the injured. He has directed Divisional administration to hold an enquiry into the incident.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan has ordered an enquiry into the incident.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kulgam has been ordered to conduct an Inquiry into the incident and come up with a report within seven days.
